Embriotered cover with collaged paper.
4.5 x 8.5 inches
Wanting to experiment with bookmaking, I created a collage of an important piece of my life. I took several pages of moments from my journals through my childhood, piecing them together as a window to who I am. From moments to moving to a foreign country and meeting backlash from my peers, to getting my first dog, a wagging bundle of fur. To late-night reading with friends over the phone, who I had long since moved away from. I decided to tie all these moments together with the idea of a flowing river. Embroidering a bright trickling stream growing larger, illuminating my growth from all these moments. As the black India ink flows through my collaged journal pages it reflects the passage of time and life's ability to define us by all these memories.
